About me
I am fascinated by organic structures. By texture, materiality, light, and shadow. By the tactile and the sculptural. By surfaces that change with the light and depending on the angle from which they are viewed.
On a deeper level, I am fascinated by the imprint of the invisible on the visible. By the traces that time, movement, growth, and resistance leave behind in the world. By translating the familiar into new contexts and perspectives that open the door to renewed awareness, presence, and recognition.
My works stem from studies of these natural formations and processes. Through photography, observation, and memory, I work to isolate and highlight selected structures and translate them into tactile reliefs. By simplifying and abstracting the forms of nature, I seek not to reproduce them directly, but to reveal the patterns and rhythms that recur across scales.
I find that my works embody the same sense of tranquility that I encounter in nature — being captivated by an unusual pattern in the bark of a tree, or the rippling movements that constantly shift across the living surface of a stream. One of my hopes for my work is that my pieces can bring some of this sensory experience into the spaces we live in — that they can make room for a sense of the slow growth of trees, of natural cycles, and of the gentle lapping of waves from an endless ocean, right in the midst of the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
My reliefs are built up on canvases or wooden panels, primarily using clay, plaster, and texturing compound.
I work from my home studio, which overlooks Hasle Bakker in Aarhus.
